About me

I am a trained horticulturist and have worked for 7 years in different horticultural companies: market gardening, ornamental plants, retail nurseries, etc. At the moment I am doing my bachelors degree in horticulture at a German university. I love to grow plants, to study them and to breed new varieties.

I like to work with plants that should deserve much more attention: Perennial vegetables, hardy passion fruit and exotic plants for the Central European climate.

I have grown at least 150 different species, ranging from orchids to plum trees. So far my main breeding work was done with Hygrophila polysperma, Curcubita pepo, Passifloras, Cucumis metuliferus and Phaseolus coccineus.

However, I have quite a few project for the future I would like to realize:

- (re)domestication of Lathyrus tuberosus

- a red kuri squash with soft edible seeds.

- a good tasting pomegranade hardy to -20°C

- a Corylus avellana x Corylus colurna hybride with big tasty nuts, with thin shells that are resistant to Curculio nucum

- a new landrace of muskmelons with great flavor adapted to the German climate

- and many more...
